About
Kimberley
Kimberley
Building Supplies has been an important part of the community and
economy in Kimberley, British Columbia since the 1950's.
Kimberley
is located in the heart of the Purcell Mountains in southeastern British
Columbia, just a four hour drive from both Calgary, Alberta and Spokane,
Washington. At 3,663 feet above sea level and with the beautiful
Kootenay River Valley to the west and the majestic Rocky Mountains to
the east, the views enjoyed by residents and visitors alike are always
breathtaking.
With
a population of 7,147, Kimberley is the second largest city in the East
Kootenays after Cranbrook, which is located a 20 minute drive from
Kimberley. The origins of the city go back to the early 1890's
when prospectors found chicamon stones, or money rock, on Sullivan
Hill. After that discovery, lead and zinc ore were mined in the
underground Sullivan Mine for almost one hundred years.
Today,
Kimberley's primary supporting industries are tourism, construction,
real estate, and mining and its trading area population is approximately
10,000.

equal. A wide range of recreational opportunities for every season
are available within a close proximity, including downhill and nordic
skiiing, golfing, biking, hiking, fishing, and so much more! The
city also boasts of a variety of great restaurants, unique shops,
talented artisans, and spas and wellness centres.
